Well, it’s that time of the year when we get to eat ourselves into a coma, and reflect on what we’re thankful for. Despite everything going on in education, we’re still thankful for so many things. Here’s what teachers have to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving!

1. For the kids.

Yes, even though they drive us crazy, we’re grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in their lives, to shape their minds, and do our part for the future of humanity.

2. For our co-workers.

Especially the ones who save us a piece of cake from the break room!

3. For canceled faculty meetings…

Even though that rarely happens!

4. For teaching-aids…

Who save us from losing it on a daily basis…

5. For laughter.

The only way to get through the madness is to not take it all so seriously, and remember to always keep a sense of humor!

6. For the magic bean, we call coffee… And tea, diet coke, Dr. Pepper, Red Bull.

All those stimulants for waking us up each morning and helping us make it past 3rd period!

7. For past students who come back to see us, just to say hi or thanks, for the impact, we had in their young lives.

They’re the reminder why we do what we do, in lieu of all the craziness that comes with the job!

8. For wine and yoga pants.

No explanation needed.

9. For good books…

That aren’t written for children.

10. For the concept of silence…

Although we usually have to lock ourselves in the bathroom just to get a few minutes of peace and quiet.

What are you thankful for? Tell us in the comments!
